Black Lives Matter
May 29th, 2020
We, the Alpha Eta chapter of Kappa Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc., enunciate our frustration over recent events and atrocities committed against our black communities. Our organization recognizes and stands in solidarity against the oppression that our black communities have historically and currently face in this country. As a part of NAPA, we denounce anti-black racism and acknowledge that non-black people of color owe many of their rights to the struggles and support of black communities. As leaders of our Asian-American community, we call on all Asian-Americans and allies to recognize the privilege and influence we have, and to use it to fuel conversations with family members, peers, and within our own organizations to actively dismantle and unlearn anti-black biases. We implore everyone in the Asian-American community to dedicate themselves to learning about these injustices and movements. We encourage the Asian-American community to actively call out members for anti-black rhetoric and microaggressions, recognizing the harmful bigotry that is present within our communities. With that being said, we have compiled a list of resources (located below) including educational sites, donations, petitions, and mental health articles pertaining to current events. Utilizing and sharing these sources can come a long way as we gather together as a community to stand by #blacklivesmatter.
Sincerely,
The Alpha Eta Chapter of Kappa Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc.
